SecExMD5+ generates message digest signatures of files. Message digests are digital fingerprints commonly published by distributors of computer software and other digital documents so that end users may verify the authenticity of such documents. Any attempt by a third party to tamper with a digital document invariably alters its digital fingerprint. A number of competing standards for the generation of digital signatures or message digests exist. The common standards are MD5, SHA-1 and RIPEMD-160. SecExMD5+ supports all three standards.
